A comfortable house with a roaring fire, loved ones laughing, presents, mouth watering food and snow covered scenery. We can provide the amazing holiday house, fire and scenery; you bring the friends, presents, food and laughter. The only thing left is to keep our fingers crossed for a white Christmas.
Whether you want a full week or just want to escape for Christmas or New Year, we'll do our best to let you make the best of your festive break. For 2017/18, we offer minimum 5 day short breaks over Christmas or New Year and let you add extra days before or after these basic building blocks to suit yourselves. We'd suggest arriving Friday/Saturday and departing Wednesday/Thursday but talk to us about what suits you best. Prices are £850 for 7 days, £800 for 6 days and £750 for 5 days.
The house is just 500m from the coast and therefore so long as the main A87 road to Skye stays open, you can always get to Varis. With two routes to the A87 via Sheil Bidge and via Strathcarron, it is very very rare that that the area is cut off. Nonetheless, we advise visitors to plan to arrive in the afternoon rather than evening.
It's very much up to you: we can provide a real tree, complete with fairy lights for you to decorate yourself and paper chains for children to make up and decorate the sitting room with, or we'll do the hard work for you.
What will you choose: instant Christmas or the fun of decorating a tree?
A Scottish New year needs a good single malt so we'll leave you a bottle to toast the New Year in. Locally, you'll find ceilidh dances at some of the village halls : these are usually bring-your-own-drinks - but remember the designated driver gets a double when they get home and nothing before.
You can't have a proper Christmas or New Year on Scotland without a real fire. An extendable toasting fork is provided for toasted mashmallows, crumpets, muffins or simple toast.
If there is enough snow there are two home made sledges, built on old skis. You are welcome to use these - at your own risk. They might go rather fast, so test on a gentle hill first please!
